Sending Attachment in Outlook

Attachments can be documents, pictures or even small audio files that you attach to an email and send to a teacher, family or friend. Let's say you have created a new email and want to send a teacher your homework. Hit the Alt key one time. Right arrow one time. Down arrow one time and you should hear "Attach..." Hit the Enter key one time and an "Insert File" dialogue box pops up. Shift Tab to the drive and folder where the file is located. Hit Enter one time. Tab to the "List View." Arrow to the file you want to attach. Hit Enter again and the file will be attached to the email. Press and hold down the Alt key and hit the letter s to send the email. There are a number of ways to attach a file to an Outlook email. Practice the following until you are quick and accurate. When you are finished there is a link titled "BACK" at the bottom of this page that will take you back to the "Outlook Lessons" web page.

1. Open Outlook.

2. Press Control n to create a new email.

3. Fill in the email address, Subject and body of the email.

4. Spell check the email with F7.

5. Hit the Alt key one time.

6. Right arrow one time, or until you come to the "Insert" tab of the ribbon.

7. Down arrow one time and you will hear "Attach..."

8. Hit the Enter key one time.

9. Shift Tab to the drive and folder where the file you want to attach is located.

10. Hit the Enter key one time to activate the drive and folder.

11. Tab to the "List View."

12. Arrow to the file you want to attach.

13. Hit the Enter key one time and the file will be attached to the email.

14. Press and hold down the Alt key and hit the letter s to send the email with the attachment.

NOTE: You can have both Word and Outlook open at the same time, type a document in Word, and then open the File menu of Word, move to "Share," and then select "Email." This lets you easily send your saved document as an attachment without all of the steps involved in Outlook.
